here's what proper work looks like.

Original 100mm insulation laid badly between joists, exposed timber walkway down the centre, no usable storage. Heat loss measurable from upstairs landing — radiators ran constantly to compensate.

Raised sub-frame installed across full loft area, 270mm mineral wool topped beneath, 18mm structural-grade chipboard floor with central walkway. Customer reported a 19% drop in winter gas usage by month two.

Original push-up plywood hatch with no seal, leaking heat directly into the loft. Old timber ladder rotting at the base, unsafe to climb with anything in hand.

Fire-rated insulated hatch with full perimeter draught seal, plus a sturdy 3-section aluminium ladder rated to 150kg. Whole job completed before lunch with zero plaster damage.

Persistent winter condensation on chipboard floor and underside of roof felt. Black mould forming on rafters, musty smell when hatch was opened.
